The 17th edition of the Indomie Heroes Awards, a special program that has honoured the bravery, tenacity, and genius of Nigerian children ages 15 and under for almost 20 years, was launched on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 by Dufil Prima Foods Ltd., the company that makes Indomie Instant Noodles.

Officially, the hunt for Nigeria’s most inspirational young heroes has begun. This year’s edition, with the subject “Unsung Heroes,” aims to recognise and unearth remarkable tales from kids throughout Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones—tales that might otherwise go unreported. In addition to inspiring, these displays of intellectual, social, and physical bravery capture the unbreakable character of the Nigerian child.

Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager of Dufil Prima Foods, stated that entries had started right away during a press briefing at the Radisson Hotel in Ikeja, accessed by BrandSpur news brand.

Continuing, Ashiwaju had this to say: “Our commitment to spotlighting the heroic acts of Nigerian children remains unwavering.

“When we launched this initiative in 2008, our goal was clear, to recognize children who display uncommon courage, whether by risking their own safety, standing up to societal issues, or using their minds to solve real-world problems. Today, that mission continues stronger than ever,” Ashiwaju added.

Through a systematic, three-phase process, the Indomie Heroes Awards begin with a call for entries, wherein motivational tales are collected from all over the nation via digital channels and in-person outreach that reaches even the most isolated regions. A reputable panel of judges will carefully examine and validate each entry during the second phase, which ends with the celebration and recognition that will take place in October 2025. The most outstanding young heroes will be honoured at a lavish awards ceremony in Lagos. Some of these extraordinary acts will be captured through mini-documentaries and reenactments.

BrandSpur news brand reports that the awards are broken down into three primary categories.

  • Physical bravery honours kids who put their own safety in danger to protect others or stop harm.
  • Intellectual Bravery honours kids who have used their knowledge and ingenuity to tackle real-world problems, while
  • Social Bravery honours kids who have fought against social problems like child marriage, illiteracy, and environmental issues.

An innovative addition to this year’s event is state-level recognition for runners-up in every category. This makes sure that even more young heroes get the recognition they merit before the national championship game.

By encouraging parents, guardians, teachers, and local leaders to tell the stories of tenacious kids in their neighbourhood, Ashiwaju underlined the value of community involvement.

Ashiwaju went on to reveal: “By beginning the shortlisting process early, we’re able to expand our reach and uncover even more deserving stories.

“This year, we aim to go further and deeper in identifying exceptional children who are changing their communities, quietly, yet powerfully,” he added.

Along with other incentives meant to aid in their education and growth, each winner will take home a grand prize that has been enhanced from the previous edition. Since its launch, the Indomie Heroes Awards have honoured 59 outstanding kids, given them a stage on which to shine, and given them scholarships worth millions of naira. Numerous previous winners have gone on to seek leadership roles and education, shattering stereotypes and altering the perception of what young Nigerians are capable of.

With the 17th edition, Dufil Prima Foods is carrying on this tradition, and we are steadfastly dedicated to our single mission: honouring the courage, intelligence, and limitless potential of Nigerian children.
