
Diageo West & Central Africa (Beer and Spirits) has promoted executive business leader Adebayo Alli to the expanded position of General Manager, with a remarkable 20-year history of spearheading growth and change in some of our most vibrant markets.
Alli is an accomplished Diageo leader. He brings great strategic leadership to this role from his previous role as General Manager for Africa Partner Markets and the Indian Ocean Islands. His long tenure with Diageo is evidence of his broad range of skills. From spearheading multi-million-pound expansion projects to developing market-winning strategies in Nigeria and Ethiopia, Alli has continuously produced exceptional results while holding key positions in Supply Chain, Sales, and Commercial leadership.
On its LinkedIn page, the company commented on Adebayo’s expanded role, saying: “Bayo’s deep understanding of our business, combined with his proven ability to build capable teams and lead through transformation, makes him the ideal leader to steer our West & Central Beer and Spirits portfolio into its next chapter of growth.”
Beginning as a Packaging Operations Support Manager in 2005, Alli has held a number of senior leadership positions in the manufacturing, supply, and commercial sectors at Diageo. He relocated to Ethiopia on an international assignment in 2013 to serve as the Project Manager for a business transformation project at Diageo’s Meta Abo Breweries Limited. After that, in 2014, he was elevated to Plant Manager, and in 2015, he was named Supply Chain Director. While working in Ethiopia, his leadership style was distinctive, exhibiting a mission mindset, inclusive leadership, and heightened cultural awareness that led to numerous breakthroughs.

BrandSpur news brand reports that to fulfil his dream of becoming a General Manager, Alli moved to commercial and assumed a number of senior commercial sales positions within the organisation after returning to Nigeria as Director of Operations. He was appointed and held the position of Director for IPS, Reserve & Modern Trade for a brief period between 2019 and 2020. In 2020, Bayo was named Guinness Nigeria’s Commercial Director.
Alli has also successfully used technology to drive incremental growth, deliver productivity, embed operational safety, and sustain market share growth. He has also changed the commercial team at Guinness Nigeria to have a digital-focused mindset. Strong succession plans are ensured by his bold vets in supply and commercial, who have helped many of his colleagues grow their businesses. He is renowned for his purposeful focus on people. By motivating others, Africans in particular, to bring about the changes he desires and leave the world in a better state than when he found it, he hopes to enrich it.
Alli graduated from the University of Ibadan with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom with an MSc in advanced process engineering.
