Lagos, Nigeria – LG Electronics has officially introduced its Smart Puricare Dehumidifier to the Nigerian market, targeting rising indoor humidity levels affecting homes, offices, and commercial spaces, particularly during the rainy season and in coastal cities. The device is designed to create healthier, drier, and more comfortable indoor environments while protecting furniture, fabrics, and air quality.
Brandspur Brand News Desk reports that the launch, which took place at the Colours by Fouani showroom in Victoria Island, Lagos, forms part of LG’s climate-responsive innovation strategy. The Smart Puricare Dehumidifier is now available nationwide through Fouani showrooms, aiming to provide effective moisture control for homes, offices, hospitality venues, and commercial environments.
Joonkyu Song, General Manager of Eco Solutions at LG Electronics Nigeria, highlighted the need for such solutions in the Nigerian context. “Many Nigerians experience the discomfort of excess humidity without fully realising its long-term effect on health, indoor air quality, and household assets. With the LG Smart Dehumidifier, we are introducing a solution that not only improves comfort but also protects homes, supports healthier living, and delivers energy-efficient performance suited for our environment,” he said.
The appliance operates quietly at approximately 33 decibels, making it suitable for bedrooms, offices, and living spaces. Two models are available: the 34-litre DD20GMWE1 and the 28-litre MD16GQWE0, both equipped with LG’s dual inverter compressor technology to optimise energy use while efficiently controlling humidity. The device is also integrated with LG ThinQ technology, allowing remote monitoring and control via smartphones, including scheduling, energy usage tracking, and water tank alerts.
Mohamed Hobballah, Showroom Branch Manager at Colours by Fouani, emphasised the market relevance of the product. “Today’s consumers are paying closer attention to air quality, comfort, and health within their homes and offices. The LG Smart Dehumidifier addresses this need by bringing premium global technology into the Nigerian market through accessible retail channels nationwide,” he said.
The appliance can remove up to 30 litres of moisture per day, equivalent to extracting water from 120 standard 250ml bottles. Its dual inverter compressor adjusts dehumidification intensity based on ambient humidity levels, ensuring optimal moisture control while reducing energy consumption. A HEPA H13-graded Safe Plus Filter enhances indoor air quality by reducing dust, bacteria, allergens, and other airborne particles often associated with damp conditions.
Health expert Dr Eniola Oni of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, described the dehumidifier as a timely innovation. “Humidity is an everyday reality in many Nigerian homes, especially in coastal and high-density urban areas. Introducing a product like this helps consumers proactively manage their indoor environment, preventing mould, mildew, and potential respiratory issues,” she noted.
The launch further strengthens LG’s smart home and wellness portfolio in Nigeria, aligning with the company’s goal to provide practical, environmentally adapted solutions that enhance health, comfort, and indoor air quality for consumers across the country.
