Intel has announced the appointment of Aparna Bawa as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and People Officer, marking a significant leadership overhaul as the chipmaker accelerates its corporate transformation strategy.
Bawa, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Zoom Video Communications, is expected to assume her new role in May. She will oversee Intel’s global legal, compliance, ethics, and human resources functions, combining key corporate governance and workforce responsibilities under a single executive role.
Brandspur Brand News reports that the appointment is part of a broader restructuring effort led by Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, aimed at strengthening operational discipline and fostering a performance-driven corporate culture. Bawa will report directly to Tan and play a central role in executing the company’s turnaround agenda.
Her arrival coincides with leadership changes within Intel’s executive ranks, including the planned departure of the current Chief Legal Officer, as the company streamlines its management structure. The consolidation of legal and people functions is expected to improve decision-making and organisational alignment.
Bawa brings extensive experience at the intersection of law and business operations, having previously held senior legal positions at major technology firms before rising to COO at Zoom, where she managed critical functions during a period of rapid expansion.
The leadership shift comes as Intel intensifies its focus on next-generation technologies, including artificial intelligence chips and semiconductor manufacturing, while implementing strategic reforms to enhance competitiveness and long-term growth.
