Cross-border financial platform LemFi has entered a strategic partnership with stablecoin infrastructure provider BVNK to enhance international money transfers by moving its settlement operations onto regulated stablecoin payment rails. The collaboration is expected to deliver faster transaction processing and lower settlement costs while maintaining the same user experience for millions of customers sending money across continents.
The upgrade will initially support LemFi’s growing network of users across the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and North America, with recipients in Africa, Asia and Latin America continuing to receive funds in their local currencies without interacting directly with cryptocurrency or digital assets.
The move comes as financial technology companies increasingly adopt stablecoin-based infrastructure to address longstanding challenges in global remittances, including high transfer costs and lengthy settlement times. Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the technology will operate entirely behind the scenes, allowing customers to continue using the LemFi app as usual while benefiting from quicker and more efficient international transfers.
According to data from the World Bank, the average global cost of sending remittances remained above the United Nations’ target for affordable transfers, highlighting the need for new payment infrastructure that can reduce costs for families relying on money sent from abroad. By replacing traditional correspondent banking routes with stablecoin-powered settlement, the partnership aims to improve efficiency across key remittance corridors.
The agreement also builds on LemFi’s broader expansion strategy following a strategic investment from Tether earlier in 2026 to accelerate stablecoin-enabled remittance services across emerging markets. The company has continued to broaden its presence beyond remittances into other financial services, including savings, credit and digital financial products for people living and working across borders.
BVNK brings extensive regulatory coverage to the partnership, operating with multiple licences and approvals across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States while supporting payment services in more than 130 countries.
LemFi said the rollout of stablecoin settlement will take place gradually across eligible markets and products, with implementation dependent on local regulatory and central bank requirements. The company expects the enhanced infrastructure to strengthen its cross-border payment capabilities while supporting faster, more affordable money transfers for diaspora communities worldwide.
