Dangote Industries Limited is investing more than $800 million to expand its cement plant in Itori, Ogun State, increasing the factory’s production capacity from six million to 12 million metric tonnes per year.

The investment follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Dangote Industries and China’s Sinoma International Engineering Co. Ltd, the engineering firm that has worked with the company on several cement projects across Africa. The expansion is expected to help meet rising demand for cement in Nigeria while creating room for larger exports to other African markets.

The project also supports Dangote Group’s wider manufacturing and export ambitions across the continent. Brandspur Brand News understands that the enlarged Itori plant will strengthen supplies for local infrastructure projects and improve the company’s ability to serve customers beyond Nigeria.

The company said the investment reflects its confidence in Nigeria’s economy and is expected to create jobs, increase foreign exchange earnings through exports, and further strengthen the country’s position as one of Africa’s leading cement producers.

Dangote attributed the expansion to growing local demand, particularly as more attention is being given to the use of concrete for road construction, as well as the company’s long-term plan to increase exports across Africa under its Vision 2030 strategy.

Sinoma International Engineering said the agreement marks another important step in its partnership with Dangote Industries and pledged to deploy its engineering expertise and advanced technology to deliver the project to international standards.

Once completed, the expanded Itori cement plant is expected to become a major production and export hub, supplying cement to both the Nigerian market and customers across Africa while supporting industrial growth and economic development.
