Chery Q Launches Nationwide As Carloha Targets Nigeria’s Growing Electric Vehicle Market

Carloha Nigeria has announced the nationwide availability of the Chery Q, bringing a new compact electric vehicle to Nigerian motorists with a combination of connected technology, advanced safety features, practical interior space and dedicated aftersales support.

The company, which is the official franchise holder, assembler and authorised distributor of Chery vehicles in Nigeria, said the model is designed for young professionals, families, first-time electric vehicle buyers and other urban motorists seeking a more connected driving experience.

Brandspur Brand News reports that the Chery Q is the latest addition to Nigeria’s emerging electric mobility market and draws on the heritage of Chery’s QQ family while introducing a new design and technology package under the brand’s “Quest for Joy” philosophy.

The vehicle has received the Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award for its design, which combines geometric styling, rounded LED lighting and a two-tone interior. Despite its compact dimensions, the Chery Q has an 85 per cent space-efficiency ratio, with a 4,195mm body length and 2,700mm wheelbase.

Its luggage capacity stands at 375 litres and can be expanded to 1,450 litres. The vehicle also comes with a 70-litre front trunk and 38 storage compartments, features intended to give owners more room for everyday commuting, shopping, family activities and longer trips.

Under the bonnet, the Chery Q uses a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration with independent suspension and balanced weight distribution. Electric Power Steering and a One-Box Brake-by-Wire system are also incorporated into the vehicle.

The electric model has an estimated NEDC range of 420 kilometres, while its fast-charging system can take the battery from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in about 16.5 minutes. It also supports Vehicle-to-Load technology, enabling users to power compatible electrical devices and outdoor equipment from the vehicle.

Technology is central to the cabin experience. The Chery Q features a 15.6-inch high-definition touchscreen powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 processor, alongside wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, intelligent voice control, 50W wireless charging and smartphone integration.

Owners can also remotely manage aspects of the vehicle through a mobile application, adding another layer of connectivity to the driving experience.

Safety features include a Level 2 Intelligent Driver Assistance System with more than 20 functions. The package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent High Beam Control, a 540-degree panoramic camera and Automated Parking Assist.

For Nigerian buyers, however, the ownership package extends beyond the vehicle itself. Carloha is offering its CarlohaCare 6-6-7 programme with every Chery Q, comprising a six-year warranty, six years of free scheduled servicing up to 120,000 kilometres and a seven-day repair commitment.

Where a repair is not completed within seven days, Carloha said it will provide a courtesy vehicle. The company is also offering CarlohaCare 6-6-7 Rescue, which includes roadside assistance and a 24-hour assistance line.

The rescue service is also available to non-Chery vehicle owners, although access is subject to limited slots.

Felix Mahan, General Manager, Marketing, Carloha Nigeria, said the nationwide rollout fulfils the company’s commitment to expanding access to electric vehicles in the country, while combining the vehicle with support intended to give customers greater confidence in ownership.

With the Chery Q now available at Carloha showrooms nationwide, Nigerian motorists have another electric vehicle option offering a 420-kilometre estimated range, rapid charging, connected features, driver-assistance technology and a structured aftersales package.
