The Transmission Company of Nigeria has opened international competitive bidding for major electricity transmission works covering parts of North-West and North-Central Nigeria under the Northern Corridor Transmission Project.
The project involves the design, manufacture, supply, installation, rehabilitation and commissioning of 330kV and 132kV high-voltage transmission infrastructure, with funding from the Agence Française de Développement and the European Union.
The Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that the procurement has been divided into three lots, covering transmission works around Kano, Katsina and Daura.
One of the lots involves the construction of 330kV double-circuit twin-conductor transmission lines linking Kano and Katsina. Another covers the rearrangement of existing 330kV lines in Kano.
The third lot involves the construction of a 211-kilometre 330kV double-circuit twin-conductor transmission line between Katsina and Daura, making it the longest individual line specified under the three-part procurement.
Interested bidders have until January 14, 2027, to submit their bids for the transmission works. The bidding requirements include bid security, with Lot 3 carrying a requirement of up to $1.8 million.
The project is focused on strengthening high-voltage transmission infrastructure across the northern corridor through new construction and the rehabilitation or rearrangement of existing lines.
The inclusion of both 330kV and 132kV infrastructure reflects the scope of the planned works, which span multiple locations and involve different aspects of the transmission network.
With international financing from the Agence Française de Développement and the European Union, the project represents a major procurement exercise involving infrastructure works across the northern part of the country.
The bidding process will remain open until the January 14, 2027 deadline, when prospective contractors are expected to have submitted their offers for consideration under the respective project lots.
