ADK Holdings and global marketing network Stagwell have signed a three-year strategic agreement to help Japanese brands and intellectual property reach international markets, while supporting overseas businesses looking to expand their presence in Japan.
The partnership will combine ADK’s knowledge of Japanese consumers, marketing operations and intellectual property with Stagwell’s global agency network, data analytics and marketing technology. North America will be the initial target for efforts to take Japanese intellectual property to a wider international audience.
The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding signed by both companies in July 2025. Their initial collaboration involved projects supporting Japanese businesses seeking overseas growth and efforts to introduce Japan-originated intellectual property to new audiences. Brandspur Brand News reports that the new agreement formalises the relationship and provides a longer-term structure for joint business development and resource sharing.
Under the arrangement, ADK will provide expertise in Japan’s intellectual property ecosystem, while Stagwell will draw on its United States agency network and analytical capabilities to support international expansion. The companies will also develop marketing strategies for multinational businesses seeking to enter or strengthen their position in Japan.
The collaboration extends beyond campaign development. Both organisations intend to explore opportunities to share data, technology and marketing solutions, while personnel exchanges and closer coordination between their teams will support joint projects.
Masato Suematsu, executive officer for global marketing at ADK Marketing Solutions, said the experience gained during the initial phase of cooperation had demonstrated the potential for a deeper partnership. He noted that the companies had already worked together across Japanese and international markets, providing a practical foundation for expanding their activities.
Randy Duax, managing director of Stagwell Asia Pacific, said the agreement built on a year of testing how the two organisations could work together. He highlighted ADK’s understanding of Japanese consumers and intellectual property as a complement to Stagwell’s international reach and capabilities in artificial intelligence, data and marketing technology.
For Japanese companies, the partnership offers a broader route to overseas audiences, particularly in North America. International businesses, meanwhile, stand to benefit from marketing support tailored to Japan’s local market, where an understanding of consumer behaviour and cultural context can be important to expansion efforts.
The deal also aligns with Stagwell’s broader push to integrate technology into its marketing services. Earlier in October, the company launched Stagwell Media, a global media agency built around an integrated operating model and its Machine OS technology platform, building on Assembly’s performance marketing capabilities.
Stagwell chairman and chief executive officer Mark Penn said the new operation was intended to help brands respond to market changes, reach audiences more effectively and pursue growth as AI-driven systems increasingly influence how consumers discover and evaluate products and services.
The three-year agreement gives ADK and Stagwell a framework to expand their cross-border work, combining local market knowledge with international networks and technology as both companies pursue new business opportunities.
