Coca-Cola Revives Holiday Creamy Vanilla, Unveils New Flavours and Functional Drinks for 2027

Coca-Cola is bringing back its Holiday Creamy Vanilla drink for the 2026 festive season while preparing a wider range of new flavours and functional beverages for 2027, as the beverage maker seeks to keep its brands relevant to changing consumer tastes.

The seasonal drink, which debuted last year as Coca-Cola’s first holiday flavour in five years, will return in regular and zero-sugar versions. Distribution is scheduled to begin on October 12 across major retailers in the United States and Canada, with the product also available through Coca-Cola’s online store. Packaging options will include 12-packs of 12-ounce cans and individual 20-ounce bottles.

The comeback is part of a broader product strategy that spans seasonal favourites, new flavour combinations and drinks designed to offer additional functional benefits. Brandspur Brand News reports that Coca-Cola is preparing several launches across its portfolio for next year, including new options from its flagship cola brand, Powerade, Mr. Pibb, Topo Chico and Core Power.

Coca-Cola is also bringing back Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry for the holiday period, although the company has not announced when the flavour will return to store shelves. The move gives the company another seasonal offering as it seeks to maintain consumer interest during the festive shopping period.

Its 2027 programme will begin with Coca-Cola Cherry Lime, scheduled for February. The drink will combine cherry flavour with a sharper lime note and will be available in both regular and zero-sugar formulations.

A second new cola variant, Coca-Cola Strawberry Float, is planned for summer 2027. It will blend the familiar cola taste with strawberry and creamy vanilla notes, also in full-sugar and zero-sugar options.

Beyond flavour development, the company plans to explore growing interest in functional beverages through regional trials of prebiotic versions of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Sprite Zero Sugar and Fresca. Each trial product is expected to contain six grams of prebiotic fibre and no sugar, although availability will initially be limited to selected markets.

The company will also expand its sports drink portfolio. Powerade is scheduled to introduce Watermelon and Lemon Lime Zero Sugar variants in January 2027, adding further choices for consumers seeking different flavours without sugar.

Mr. Pibb will receive a limited-edition addition in spring 2027 with the launch of Mr. Pibb Black Currant. The beverage is described as a berry-led combination featuring blackberry and blackcurrant notes, with 54 milligrams of caffeine.

Coca-Cola is extending its innovation drive into protein drinks as well. Core Power plans to launch Banana in January 2027 in both its 26-gram and 42-gram protein formats. The new flavour will mark the range’s first flavour addition in nearly a decade. Strawberry will also be added to the 26-gram protein line-up.

Shakir Moin, president of marketing for North America at The Coca-Cola Company, said changing consumer expectations were influencing the company’s approach to beverage development. Consumers are increasingly looking for new tastes, experiences and functional benefits, he noted, while the breadth of Coca-Cola’s portfolio gives it room to respond to different preferences and occasions.

The planned launches underline the company’s effort to compete across several parts of the beverage market rather than relying solely on its established soft drinks. Seasonal releases can renew interest in familiar brands, while zero-sugar and prebiotic options allow the company to explore changing expectations around ingredients and functionality.

For Nigerian consumers, however, the immediate availability of these products remains uncertain. The holiday rollout announced by the company covers the United States and Canada, while the prebiotic drinks are intended for trials in selected markets. No Nigerian launch dates have been provided for the products outlined in the announcement.

Coca-Cola’s latest plans show how flavour experimentation and functional drink development are becoming important parts of its product strategy as the company seeks to offer more variety across its global portfolio.
