5 Drinking Games to play at Parties

Detty December is fast approaching and although there might not be any concerts, there would be a lot of house parties and game nights. If you’re thinking of hosting a house party and you’re not sure which drinking games to play, check out our list below:

The name game

To start this game, one player says the name of someone famous, and then the following person has to say the name of someone else famous whose name starts with the first letter of the other person’s surname. So if player one says Kemi Adetiba, player two would say Adele. If you can’t think of a name immediately, you have to drink while you’re thinking.

5 DRINKING GAMES TO PLAY AT PARTIES Brandspurng

Back to back

Two people in your group stand back to back, drinks in hand. The rest of the group ask them a ‘Who’s the most likely to….’ question, and whichever member thinks they’re the most likely to, drinks. If one of them drinks, you ask the next question. If they both drink, they both have to drink again. If neither of them drinks, they also both have to drink again.

Flip cup

This is a team game, where two opposing groups stand on opposite sides of a table or counter, with a full cup in front of each player. The games begin and the first players in line race to down their drinks, and then place their empty cups upside down on the edge of the surface. They then have to successfully flip their cups the right way up – not so easy once you’ve had a few – at which point the next player in line has to do the same. It’s a relay, so the first team to get to the end wins!

Sixes

You’ll need a dice and six different cups of differing sizes, ranging from a shot all the way up to a huge mug. Each cup corresponds with a different number on the dice – players roll the dice, and then have to drink the contents of whichever cup they’ve been assigned. P. S: put something with a mixer in the bigger glasses or you won’t last long!

Where’s the water?

If you can handle your liquor and bluff like a champ, this is the game for you. It’s a roulette-style situation where you line up a selection of various shot glasses, and fill some with clear spirits and others with water. Each player then has to take it in turns to choose and drink and a shot, and say ‘mmm, water!’ in their most convincing voice. If you call them out and say they’re lying, and you’re right, they drink another – but if you’re wrong, you have to take a shot.

The Self-imposed Adjustments as Onions Disappear from the Breakfast Omelette.

0
Nigerians adapt easily to changes. When the price of food rise, we add a few Naira and buy what we can afford. After all, we love to “cut our coat according to our cloth”. When the price of tomato paste increases, we learn how to cook our famous Nigerian Jollof Rice without tomato paste.
And when the price of onions rises, we remember that some members of our families are allergic to onions. Then, onions disappear from the breakfast omelette.

The Self-imposed Adjustments as Onions Disappear from the Breakfast Omelette.

If there is anything we can learn from economics as a discipline, then we need to know that food has an inelastic demand. This implies that we will continue to demand food despite the rising costs.

We can respond to changes in food price by adopting some self-imposed strategies like reducing the quantity and quality of the food we consume. Economically, we end up spending a good portion of our disposable income on food. Some people have it much worse. They live from hand to mouth.

We need to look beyond the coping mechanisms and fix some structural issues. How do we ensure efficiency in our agricultural systems? How do we start or sustain school feeding programs and other social protection plans? We must stop accepting the rising costs of food as a norm.

Wondering what they are? We have shared five gift ideas that you could give that special someone in today’s writing. Let’s get right into it!

  1. Fitness Subscription

Gifting your friend or partner a subscription for a physical fitness program or yoga class shows how much you value the physical well being of the person. It shows that you want that person to be physically fit and mentally alert.

2. Hamper

A carefully selected gift hamper shows how much thought you put into getting something for your friend or acquaintance. Your hamper can contain items that are not just edibles like fruits or chocolates, it can contain things like perfumes, stationery, or even a customized piggy bank from the likes of Kolo Lagos and My Kolo in order to encourage them to grow a healthy savings habit. You can mix the items in the hampers with edibles and non-edibles just to give it that short term and long term feel and value.

3. Gift Cards

Want a gift that is pocket friendly but still screams “Thoughtful”? That gift is a gift card. This allows you to give access to someone to buy whatever he or she wants within a certain price range. This is very thoughtful and allows the person the freedom to pick whatever they value.

4. Quality Time

Gift them the luxury of spending time with you. It can be a dinner date, movie nights, shopping, and so on. If there is any lesson this year has taught us is to give people flowers while you still can. It’s not just enough to say you love someone. Show it.

At times the best gift you can give someone is your attention and time. They want to hear about what you have been up to, they want to feel like they are part of your life and they are special to you. After all, that’s what the holiday season is for, right?

5. Piggybanks (popularly known as Kolo)
