Microsoft has provided cash to the non-profit group Health Emergency Initiative (HEI), which aims to save lives by paying medical fees for underprivileged individuals.

By paying for treatment for children under five who have acute and non-chronic illnesses like sepsis, meningitis, kwashiorkor, malaria, malnourishment, tetanus, and so on, ten public hospitals in Lagos State, Nigeria, will receive financial assistance with the goal of lowering infant mortality.

The fact that 17% of Nigerian children born do not live to be five years old, according to available health data on the national news brand, highlights the critical need for early childhood health interventions.

HEI has helped hundreds of children receive critical medical care with Microsoft’s assistance, and its beneficiaries have an 82 percent survival rate.

When a number of Microsoft employees went to Massey Street Children’s Hospital with HEI executives to see how the money was being used, it was clear how committed the company was to the cause. The company’s commitment to helping underprivileged communities through its yearly giving programme and corporate social responsibility activities was reinforced by this visit, which was a part of Microsoft’s outreach strategy.

Paschal Achunine, the Executive Director of Health Emergency Initiative said: .“We are grateful to Microsoft for their significant contribution.”

Continuing, he added: “Their support has been instrumental in saving the lives of many vulnerable Nigerian children who otherwise would not have access to necessary medical care. We hope that this exemplary act of generosity will inspire other corporate organisations to collaborate with credible NGOs such as HEI for impactful CSR projects.”

However, the initiative has benefited the intended number of patients at each of the chosen institutions. Microsoft employees will receive CPR and First Aid training from HEI in addition to financial support, which will improve their emergency readiness and skills.

With over 46,900 clients to date, Health Emergency Initiative is renowned for providing vital care to accident victims during the vital first 24 to 48 hours, teaching CPR/First Aid, and paying hospital fees for underprivileged patients.
