
Numerous clients protested that their sim cards were blocked, flocked MTN offices in Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community near Warri/Sapele Road and Alaka Quarters near Effurun/Sapele Road.
Dr. Dickson Oyovwi, the provost of the College of Education in Warri, is one of the impacted customers. Citing Oasis Magazine, he disclosed that his MTN began acting strangely over the weekend, and that his MTN simcard was registered in accordance with the law and connected to his National Identity Number (NIN). So he was wondering, why was his MTN blocked?
Speaking in a similar tone, Chief Akpojotor Adjarho, a public analyst from Warri who is also a victim of MTN’s actions, claimed to have used an MTN SIM card from the company’s founding.
According to a second impacted MTN customer in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, who chose not to reveal her identity, she registered her SIM card at the MTN office in Effurun and said that it was likewise connected to her NIN.

According to her: “I see no reason why my sim card should be barred by MTN.”
The telecom and IT news reports that at the MTN office in Effurun, a young guy named Alex (last name withheld) said that MTN was acting against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive by blocking MTN sim cards. He said this was done to stop the planned nationwide strike.
However, the impacted SIM cards were blocked because of inconsistencies in their registration and lack of connectivity to the owners’ NIN, according to an MTN employee in the Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community near Warri / Sapele Road who did not want his identity to be revealed in the media.
According to him, before their lines are opened, the impacted customers must approve the differences.
