To address the increasing demand for cloud services in Asia, Amazon has revealed plans to invest over $5 billion, with the Taipei region of Taiwan as the primary focus of the project.
The corporation has inaugurated its Asia Pacific (Taipei) region of Amazon Web Services (AWS). Its data centres in Taiwan will be built, connected, run, and maintained with the help of this investment. This investment is anticipated to boost the local economy and provide businesses across Asia with cutting-edge cloud solutions.
Vice President of Infrastructure Services at AWS, Prasad Kalyanaraman had this to say: “The new AWS Asia Pacific (Taipei) Region will enable organisations of all sizes to build and scale with confidence using our comprehensive suite of cloud services, ranging from foundational compute and storage to advanced analytics and artificial intelligence, all while meeting local data residency requirements.”
According to IndexBox statistics available to BrandSpur digital news platform, Taiwan is a key player in the digital transformation of the area, and the cloud computing market in Asia is anticipated to rise significantly. By offering secure and scalable cloud services to various businesses, Amazon appears to be attempting to meet this growing demand.
According to Statista, the Asian public cloud industry will generate US$169.29 billion in sales by 2025. The market is expected to expand at an average annual rate of 19.34% between 2025 and 2029, reaching a total value of US$343.33 billion by that year. With its most recent investment, Amazon will increase AWS’s presence in Taiwan, where it has been since at least 2014.
As a major supplier of the processing power needed to run AI models, AWS contributes significantly to the advancement of Amazon’s artificial intelligence programs. It contributes significantly to Amazon’s revenue outside of its core e-commerce business and has grown significantly over the last two years due to the growing demand for AI capabilities.
