Moniepoint Inc has reaffirmed its commitment to developing Africa’s technology workforce as it opens applications for the second cohort of its flagship DreamDevs initiative. The programme is aimed at equipping recent graduates with practical, industry-ready skills and hands-on experience to bridge the continent’s tech talent gap.
The company’s Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Felix Ike, highlighted that the first cohort validated Moniepoint’s belief that African tech talent can compete globally when given proper training and mentorship. “This year, we are doubling down by aiming to convert 50 percent of participants into full-time employees. DreamDevs is about creating sustainable career pathways that drive Africa’s digital economy forward,” he said.
Brandspur Banking News Desk reports that DreamDevs complements Moniepoint’s broader talent development ecosystem, including HatchDev, a collaboration with NITHub Unilag that trains 500 specialised developers annually in software engineering, intelligent systems, and IoT/embedded technologiesand the Women-in-Tech programme, now in its fifth year.
The initiative also aligns with the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, where Moniepoint serves as a strategic sponsor. While the 3MTT programme focuses on mass skills training, DreamDevs offers a specialised pathway from foundational learning to full-time employment.
The nine-week bootcamp targets graduates in technology, computer science, engineering, and related fields with basic programming knowledge in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Participants undergo intensive, hands-on training led by senior software engineers, with top performers advancing to six-month internships and potential full-time roles at Moniepoint. The first cohort produced four hires, three interns and one full-time engineer demonstrating the programme’s effectiveness in developing job-ready talent.
Ike explained that Moniepoint’s multi-pronged approach not only supports national workforce development goals but also addresses immediate industry needs. “By investing in young talent and providing practical experience, product development opportunities, and startup incubation support, we are creating high-impact jobs and driving sustainable economic growth across the continent,” he said.
Graduates of the programme, like Victor Adepoju, who joined Moniepoint as a Backend Engineer, praised the hands-on learning experience. “The training covered a wide range of technical and soft skills, including cloud technologies like Google Cloud Platform, planning, and organisation, which have been invaluable in my day-to-day work,” Adepoju said.
Applications for the second DreamDevs cohort are now open nationwide, with a deadline of January 20, 2026. Interested and qualified graduates are encouraged to apply via the official portal at dreamdevs.moniepoint.com. Selection will be based on technical aptitude, learning potential, and alignment with Moniepoint’s values of innovation and excellence.
