The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock test conducted nationwide on March 28, 2026, while also announcing the delisting of over 20 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres due to technical shortcomings.

According to the Board, a total of 224,597 candidates registered for the mock examination, out of which 152,586 successfully participated across 989 CBT centres spread across the country.

The exercise was designed as a preparatory assessment ahead of the main UTME, helping candidates familiarise themselves with the examination environment while allowing JAMB to test the readiness of its systems and infrastructure.

Brandspur Brand News reports that following the conduct of the mock examination, JAMB identified more than 20 CBT centres that experienced significant technical challenges and subsequently removed them from its list of approved examination centres due to operational inadequacies.

The Board stated that the affected centres failed to meet the required technical standards necessary to support smooth examination delivery, prompting regulatory action to safeguard the integrity of future examinations.

JAMB also issued a warning to candidates, advising them against engaging in fraudulent activities, including individuals or groups claiming to manipulate UTME scores, noting that such actions violate examination regulations and carry strict penalties.

It added that candidates found culpable of examination malpractice or fraud-related activities risk having their registration cancelled, with results subject to withdrawal if infractions are discovered after the examination.

The Board further explained that candidates can access their mock results by sending the keyword “MOCKRESULT” via SMS to designated shortcodes 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number registered during the examination process.

The results will only be delivered to the registered SIM card, reinforcing the importance of using the correct contact details provided during registration.

Reports surrounding the mock examination indicated that several centres experienced technical disruptions, including system failures, delays in commencement and network-related issues that affected candidates’ ability to complete the test.

In some instances, candidates encountered prolonged waiting periods before the exam began, while others faced interruptions mid-examination or were unable to access the testing platform entirely.

The main UTME exercise is scheduled to take place between April 16 and April 25, 2026, making the mock examination a critical component in assessing the readiness of CBT centres and identifying potential system gaps ahead of the nationwide test.

JAMB has expanded its network of examination centres to 1,000 nationwide for the 2026 UTME cycle, an increase aimed at improving accessibility, reducing congestion and enhancing operational efficiency across test locations.

The Board reiterated its commitment to maintaining a transparent and credible examination process, while ensuring that only fully equipped and technically compliant CBT centres are retained for future examinations.
