Techeconomy Marks 9th Anniversary with Launch of GrowthX Conference and TiLAwards in Lagos

Techeconomy, the digital media platform focused on technology and business coverage, has announced the launch of GrowthX, a new industry conference, alongside the Technology Innovation and Leadership Awards, with the inaugural edition set for September 24, 2026, at The Civic Centre on Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event, which doubles as a celebration of Techeconomy’s nine-year milestone in digital and tech reporting, is designed to bring together Nigeria’s foremost leaders in technology, telecommunications, finance, payments, and digital infrastructure. The morning conference session begins at 9:00 am, followed by the TiLAwards gala dinner at 4:00 pm.

Under the theme “Driving Digital Growth Through Innovation and Collaboration,” GrowthX aims to explore critical issues impacting Nigeria’s digital economy and foster strategic partnerships that translate industry opportunities into tangible growth.

Brandspur Brand News gathered that the event arrives at a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s digital and financial infrastructure. A key discussion point will be the Central Bank of Nigeria’s recent directive mandating payment operators to store and manage Nigeria-generated payment transaction data on local servers, with full compliance expected by January 1, 2027. The regulation raises pressing questions around local data centre capacity, cybersecurity, technical expertise, data protection, and operational continuity during the transition.

The conference will facilitate dialogue among stakeholders across financial services, payments, telecommunications, data centres, cloud services, and cybersecurity sectors, focusing on the preparations needed to meet these new regulatory requirements.

The programme features two keynote speakers, a lead presentation, two panel discussions, and a fireside chat. An exhibition space will allow participating companies to showcase their innovative products, services, and technological solutions.

Peter Oluka, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Techeconomy, framed the event as more than a one-day industry gathering. He said the goal is to bring the right people into the same room, foster meaningful conversations, and create opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.

The TiLAwards Gala Night will cap the day’s proceedings, celebrating organisations and individuals making significant contributions to Nigeria’s digital economy. The awards recognise excellence across technology innovation and leadership, categories that have grown in importance as Nigeria’s tech ecosystem expands.

GrowthX by Techeconomy forms part of the Techeconomy Business Series, the platform’s strategic arm dedicated to thought leadership and industry advancement. The initiative reflects a broader trend among Nigerian tech media platforms moving beyond pure news coverage to convene the stakeholders they report on.

For Nigeria’s digital economy, the timing of the conference carries particular relevance. The local data hosting mandate represents one of the most significant regulatory shifts in recent years, with implications for banks, fintech companies, payment processors, data centre operators, and cloud service providers. GrowthX provides a forum for these players to align on implementation challenges before the January 2027 compliance deadline.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders on policies, infrastructure, and emerging technologies shaping the next phase of Nigeria’s digital journey. The event also offers a platform for policymakers and regulators to hear first-hand from the businesses that must implement their directives.
