The newly elected President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Lanre Adisa, revealed this information at a media parley held in Lagos on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, that the 19th edition of the Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) is now accepting entries from registered AAAN agencies. The AAAN is the umbrella organisation for advertising professionals in Nigeria.
The Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) has been officially welcomed as a participant in this year’s edition by the association, BrandSpur Nigeria news today reports.
Adisa stated during the media scrum that the LAIF Awards continue to serve as a venue for showcasing the greatest creative work from both Nigeria and the West African sub-region. Noting that the brands in the market are products of ideas, he underlined the necessity for the sector to use the platform to celebrate ideas. He emphasised that the fact that MIPAN was included in this year’s edition of the LAIF board of directors attests to the power of collaboration, even as he praised the past and current board members for elevating the bar of innovation through the awards.
According to him, the association is anticipating a day when all of the sectoral organisations in the business will be included in the LAIF Awards, making Nigeria’s marketing communications sector a formidable force.
Chairman of the LAIF Management Board, Jay Chukwuemeka revealed the theme for the 2024 LAIF Awards, “Staying A-LAIF,” saying it’s exciting to see that this year’s edition builds on the idea of inclusion with a strong focus on adaptation, survival, and the celebration of the resilient spirit that organisations and practitioners in the industry are known for.

Chukwuemeka observed that both large and small agencies have managed to survive and prosper despite the difficulties facing the sector and the country at large.
He had this to say: “We are quite aware of new challenges facing the industry and businesses generally in 2024. But as the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. For this reason, we are ready to look at the bright side of the situation. We are celebrating not only the big agencies but also the smaller agencies that have thrived despite the odds.
“We are honoring the resilience that keeps us pushing all through the entire stretch of the year 2024,” he added.
Continuing, he revealed that the board, in an attempt to remain current, will be launching new award categories this year. Among these is the LAIF Academy, which allows accredited AAAN agencies to take part by casting votes for their works in the recently launched Agency Choice award.
Additionally, he said that agencies that win the coveted Grand Prix and Gold would be presented with plaques at this year’s awards ceremony, while agencies that win silver and bronze will be given certificates.
This latest advancement conforms to global industry best practices. He said that the board will introduce the LAIF Report, a platform that acts as an agency’s ranking on the medal table and a record of accomplishments for new agencies to aspire to, as an exciting addition to the LAIF Academy.
According to Chukwuemeka, to encourage greater participation from agencies in Nigeria and other West African nations, the board has decided to maintain the current entry prices for the awards.
He, however, went on to say that the action is an obvious representation of the board’s commitment to diversity and its aim to guarantee that all qualified agencies take part in expanding LAIF as a whole. The dates of entrance will be published soon. The LAIF Festival week is set to take place from November 18, 2024, to November 24, 2024.
