The 2024 Brands and Marketing Conference, with the theme “Rebuilding Consumer Confidence: Addressing Policy Impact and Market Realities,” is set for December 6, 2024, and Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Chairman of the Odu’a Group of Companies, will give the keynote lecture.
The conference, which is organized by the Brand Journalists Association of Nigeria (BJAN) every year, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Oriental Hotel on Victoria Island in Lagos. It is a premier gathering that unites knowledgeable players and seasoned analysts to concentrate on important topics in the Nigerian integrated marketing communications sector.
Panelists, brand experts, and analysts will analyze some of the topics covered in Otunba Bimbo Ashiru’s keynote address, BrandSpur national news stories report.
The conference’s main focus, according to BJAN Chairman Clara Okoro, will be on how government policies like taxation, interest rate changes, and the elimination of subsidies affect disposable income and consumer expenditure.
Continuing, Okoro had this to say: “We would be exploring strategies for businesses to adapt to weakened consumer purchasing power and shifts in consumption patterns due to policy changes.
“We would be examining how brands can pivot their strategies to maintain relevance and profitability in an environment of economic pressure and policy-induced constraints,” Okoro added.
From 2011 to 2018, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru served two terms as Ogun State’s Honorable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry. Under his leadership, the state’s economic climate flourished above all expectations, and the state’s internally generated revenue increased by more than 1,279.84%. Ogun State became home to more than 300 factories and businesses, with a total investment profile of roughly N691.77 billion in 2014, up from N377 billion in 2013. According to the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, this put Ogun State at the top of the Nigerian rankings. Ogun State received around 75% of the nation’s manufacturing foreign direct investment between 2011 and 2016.
Additionally, during his tenure, Ogun State was ranked as one of the top five states in terms of ease of doing business by the World Bank Group in its Doing Business in Nigeria 2014 Report, up from 36th place in its 2010 report. To help prospective investors with the investment and documentation processing processes, he also helped establish a One-Stop-Shop Investment Center (OSSIC) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
However, among other things, Ashiru is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIBN) and an expert in investment and strategic management.
Among the many honors he has received are the Nigerian NewsDirect Award for Best Commissioner of the Year (2015), the 2013 FIBAN Excellence Award for Most Proactive Commissioner, and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria’s Award of Honour for Outstanding Leadership.
