The text-to-video model, Sora, has been introduced by OpenAI and is now accessible to ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Pro users.
Targeting rivals like Meta, Google, and Stability AI, who are developing comparable capabilities, is an extension of multimodal AI. Sora was first made available to safety testers in February 2023 as part of an OpenAI research preview.
The model, now known as Sora Turbo, allows users to produce videos up to 20 seconds long in 1080p resolution and is provided to members at no extra cost. Users can create material from scratch or by combining pre-existing assets, and they can select between widescreen, vertical, or square formats.
The European Union, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom are not included in the rollout, even though ChatGPT is available across the majority of its operating territories. OpenAI has reiterated its objective of making the technology widely available by announcing plans to launch customized pricing for several user categories early next year.
BrandSpur digital news platform reports that OpenAI has put safeguards in place to discourage abuse of the technology, particularly banning the production or dissemination of damaging information, such as deepfake movies and materials for child exploitation. The corporation has restricted the ability to upload actual people, with plans to increase access as security measures are strengthened.
All Sora-generated videos, by default, have visible watermarks and metadata identifying them as AI-generated to increase transparency. Additionally, OpenAI is creating in-house tools to confirm the source of content produced with the model. OpenAI is fostering innovation in its domain with the integration of Sora.
However, as it develops tools to improve content creation, the business hopes to influence industry standards for the safe use of AI.
