InterswitchSPAK TV Show’s 6th Edition Recognizes African’ Young Brains

Africa’s most talented young geniuses are being highlighted by the sixth edition of the InterswitchSPAK TV show, which is lighting up screens all over the nation.

As Nigeria’s best science students compete for the ultimate STEM title, the competition has been an exciting showcase of astounding talent, unwavering perseverance, and ground-breaking innovation since the season premiere on Sunday, October 20, 2024. After six exciting episodes, 18 outstanding semi-finalists emerged from the competition, which has been nothing short of electric, full of drama, suspense, and memorable moments.

African talent is ready to take on the globe, as seen by these young talents who gave it their all. Through remarkable demonstrations of speed, precision, understanding, and problem-solving skills in STEM fields, individuals have demonstrated their true intelligence and inventiveness. The competitors are changing the perception of what it means to be an African STEM genius. The excitement and stakes increase as the weeks go by, giving us a front-row ticket to see these potential trailblazers make their mark.

Ayomiposi Igbaroola of Greater Tomorrow International College, Ondo State; Nifesimi Itamuseye from Fountain International High School, Ekiti State; Divine Hosea representing Peace College, Iju, Lagos; Elvis Ekwelem of Graceland International School, Rivers State; Chidera Ejidike from St. Gregory College, Ikoyi, Lagos; Damilare Fakorede and King David Odey, both from Greater Tomorrow International College, Ondo State; David Babalola of Brainfield College, Salolo, Lagos; Chinaza Ejeahalaka from Marist International Secondary School, Owerri, Imo State; Samuel Ayano of Apt Scholars Universal College, Ogun State; Chimfumnanya Aghaduno from Penny International College, Lagos State; and Chimamanda Agbanusi from Rainbow College, Ogun State, are among the 18 semi-finalists who have so far emerged from the fierce competition.

The following individuals were also selected: Jane Onwuli from Graceland International School, Rivers State; Emmanuel Olabiyi from Apt Scholars Universal College, Ogun State; Nwachukwu Ebubechukwu from Marist Brothers’ Juniorate B, Abia State; ThankGod Onyekachi Madu from His Grace High School, Enugu State; and Ndudu Ekong Henry from Pegasus High School Eket., Akwa Ibom State.

As the semi-finalists prepare for the following round and fight ferociously for a desired place in the top 9, the rivalry gets more intense. In an attempt to win the fame and the huge payouts, they are getting closer to the ultimate prizes with the stakes larger than before.

What awaits the leading candidates this year is as follows:

  • First place: a laptop, a monthly salary, and a N15 million tertiary scholarship, which would be distributed over five years.
  • Second place: a laptop and an N10 million scholarship spread over three years.
  • Third place: a laptop and a N5 million scholarship for a year.
    Fourth through ninth place: Laptops and impressive monetary incentives for their outstanding work.

The top eighteen semi-finalists

BrandSpur national news stories report that to acknowledge their accomplishments, cash prizes were given out.

The top 27 contributing teachers will receive cash incentives in recognition of their commitment and influence. Through InterswitchSPAK, Interswitch has given out millions of scholarships, fostered a thriving network of young innovators and change makers, and encouraged about 100,000 students to pursue STEM careers.

The drama is far from over, considering there have only been six episodes this season. Although all of the semi-finalists have demonstrated remarkable potential, only one will win the main prize and be crowned Africa’s next STEM superstar.
